Background

MLB Industries began as a private company under the name Synthelube Inc. and was incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act in 1987. It was renamed Motrlube Inc. in 1989. Mr. Charles (Sonny) Stone, the President of the company, has been directly involved in all stages of its corporate evolution from these early beginnings.

As a private company, its principal business was as a manufacturer and retailer of specialty automotive products, specifically an extended life, synthetic motor lubricant through the acquisition of the rights to Motrlube 4S from Synthelube Inc. on May 1, 1990. Its manufacturing plant and retail sales network was based in Montreal, Quebec.

In September, 1994, the company moved its entire manufacturing operations and head office to Alberta.

On September 28, 1994, Motrlube Inc. went public with an Initial Public Offering. Its shares were listed for trading on the Alberta Stock Exchange in November, 1994.

The synthetic oil blending plant and service bays were set-up in Calgary in late 1994.

In 1996, the company changed its name to MLB Industries Inc. to more accurately reflect its broadening business operations. MLB was chosen to identify with its stock symbol on the TSX Venture Exchange.
